The Greenlight Project at the Luzerne Foundation was established in 2025 to fuel opportunity, spark progress, and turn ambition into real change in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Greenlight Project was created by Representative Rob Bresnahan and his wife, Chelsea, in partnership with the Luzerne Foundation. Established on their wedding day in 2025, the fund was launched with a commitment of Rob’s full first term congressional salary, totaling $348,000, to support and sustain its mission. Through The Greenlight Project, Rob and Chelsea are giving back to the community that shaped their lives, values, careers, and shared commitment to public service and local impact.
At its core, The Greenlight Project is about momentum. It is about identifying the people and organizations in Northeastern Pennsylvania who have the drive and the vision to create positive change and giving them the green light to move forward. Too often, local ideas with real promise stall because of limited funding, lack of visibility, or a missing connection. This fund exists to close that gap.
The Greenlight Project invests in nonprofits, community initiatives, creative ideas, and solutions that help Northeastern Pennsylvania thrive. It supports projects that expand opportunity, strengthen neighborhoods, improve quality of life, and build a future where every individual has a chance to contribute, succeed, and shine. Through strategic grants and partnerships, the Greenlight Project empowers problem solvers and supports efforts that improve the lives of families, neighbors, and entire communities.
“This is more than a donation. It is a commitment to invest in the people, institutions, and ideas that move Northeastern Pennsylvania forward.”
-Rob
“Our goal is to support the problem solvers. The people and organizations who have already spotted what is missing and are out there doing something about it. They are not waiting for permission. They are rolling up their sleeves and finding solutions. The Greenlight Project is our way of backing that kind of effort and helping our community get closer to its full potential.”
-Chelsea
The fund is managed by the Luzerne Foundation, ensuring oversight, transparency, and responsible charitable giving within the region. With the Luzerne Foundation’s experience and expertise, the Greenlight Project can direct resources to where they can have the most meaningful and lasting impact.
Rob and Chelsea believe in a future where Northeastern Pennsylvania does not wait for outside permission or help to move forward, but grows from within. They created the Greenlight Project as a commitment to the region’s spirit of resilience, generosity, creativity, and community pride. This fund stands as an invitation. It says yes to new ideas, to local leadership, to bold action, and to hope.
